It seems appropriate to me that I and all other people should periodically announce our own sexual disease status as a way to promote the idea that everyone should get periodic STD testing.
As the results of my tests show, on May 13, 2009, I Lane Rasberry did not have HIV, syphilis, or hepatitis B. Furthermore I affirm that I have received the hepatitis A vaccine some years ago, thus the positive result now. Not posted on my copy of the results but shown as ordered by me, I took urine and rectal testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia and throat testing for gonorrhea, all of which showed that I did not have these infections.
I think that when public health agencies give these kinds of results they should make them more comprehensible. There must be very few people who would now that the rapid plasm reagin (RPR) which I had is a test for syphilis, and it is also unfortunate that only some of my test results are on this record. I presume that this is because the samples were tested at a different lab and then reported back to the requesting lab in some format that was not transcribed to the record I am showing here. There really ought to be a national or international standard for reporting to consumers so that people can have a more understandable experience when they go for testing.
