I woke up this morning with malaise. Last night I had talked with Abiji about going to a doctor because after one week I still have had diarrhea daily. In the last week I have not felt bad, although I have been tired. I attributed that to going to the toilet approximately twice every night after going to sleep, to make for a total of about four uses daily.
I found the hospital nearby with relative ease. It is across the street from what I think is the Chowk police station. I went to the registration desk and paid Rs 10 to get a paper with a “paid” stamp on it and also a stamp that said emergency. The emergency room was nearby. I went there and the doctor took my pulse – everyone seems fond of taking pulses here – and then asked me if I had fever, chills, and body aches in addition to diarrhea. I had all those slightly and occasionally before; I definitely had all of those and bad now.
On my stamped paper he wrote scripts for GSK’s Cetzine (I think it is Zyrtek) tablets, a Pfizer B-complex, an antibiotic called Fixx LB made by some company called Maxim, and Mit’s Linctus Codeinae, which is a cough syrup containing codeine phosphate and having a “new tingle flavour.” A five day supply of the pills and the bottle cost Rs 170.
I am still planning to move into Nandan’s today. I am not sure if I want to go to class tonight. I do not think I would want to even if I were very close to school, and now I have a new path to take.
I already started the pills.
